Croatia Dog Beach – what to consider?

In Croatia, there are not only official dog beaches but also wild beaches where dogs are at least tolerated as long as they do not disturb anyone. Dogs are not allowed on public beaches. To avoid accidentally visiting the wrong beach, you should pay attention to the well-marked dog beaches in Croatia:

• The official dog beach is marked with a flag featuring a dog bone.
• A dog ban might be noted in Croatian with the words „Psi su dopušteni“.

Even on wild beaches, dogs can be explicitly prohibited, so you should pay attention to the signage. If dogs are tolerated there, you must not disturb other beachgoers and should keep a sufficient distance. Additionally, you should leash your dog if you are not alone there.

Dog Beach Croatia – you will also find them in the Kvarner Bay

Most official dog beaches in Croatia are found in Istria, but even if you head to the islands or the Kvarner Bay, you have a wide selection of great beaches where your four-legged friend is welcome.

Dog Beach Krk

On the island of Krk, three popular official dog beaches in Croatia stand out:

• Punta Sila, in Silo – this is a small secluded bay with a pebble beach and trash cans for disposing of dog waste. However, there is no further luxury for you here. You should bring everything you need yourself.
• Redagara, about 1 km outside the town of Krk – this pebble beach is also located in a small bay, but amidst beautiful pine forests that provide some cool shade even in the hot summer. Unfortunately, there is no gastronomy here either, so you are self-sufficient.
• Vela Plaza (Baska) – the pebble and sand beach is about 2 km long and has excellent water quality. Nearby, you will find an interesting waterfront promenade with dog-friendly shops and cafes. There is also a pedal boat rental. Note: Parking is chargeable.

Dog Beach Kvarner Bay

You will also find suitable official dog beaches on the other islands, such as:

• The dog beach Monty’s Dog Beach & Bar in Banjol on the island of Rab.
• The dog beach Padova is also on the island of Rab and consists of three bathing bays.
• The dog beach Camp Kovacine in Cres on the island of Cres.
• The dog beach ACI Marina on Cres.
• The dog beach Veli Losinj in the Rovenska bay on the island of Losinj.
• Dog beach Uvala Sakucani in Pula on the Verudela peninsula.

In addition, there are the following recommended dog beaches in the Kvarner Bay:

• Dog Beach Kantrida in the port city of Rijeka. A dog shower and special trash cans are available.
• Dog Beach Punta Kolova (Opatija) – ideal: there is a dog shower and plenty of shaded areas as well as trash cans and poop bags. Additionally, parking is free.

Dog Beach Istria – here you will find the most dog beaches

In Istria, you will find some of the most beautiful dog beaches in Croatia. They offer various services such as lawns, umbrella rentals, recreational activities, and bars or restaurants.

Some of the most popular dog beaches in Istria include:

• Monty’s Dog Beach in Crikvenica with a pebble beach and lawn
• Lone Beach in Rovinji with a great natural beach and green areas
• Vela Plaza Baska – the dog beach is in the Zarok district, where you get a lot offered!
• Uvala Sakucani in Pula with many restaurants and recreational opportunities
• Bounty Bay near Rabac – very quiet and secluded with a stunning landscape
